WHERE WERE YOU WHEN IT ALL WENT DOWN?

I will never forget this day for the rest of my lie. I was sitting in the Library in my Study Hall with Mr. Straight. I was attending Barrett Middle School at the time and I was in the 8th grade. I remember a teacher coming in and turning on all the T.V.’s in the school all at once. We all turned to the strange and abrupt interruption over the loud speaker stating that this was something the whole school and the entire Nation was tuned into. I remember the deadly silence in the room as the first tower was in flames. We all just sat there all the way over in Louisville Ky feeling so helpless and hopeless at the same time. We all tried to understand what this mint for the future. It wasn’t untill the second plane hit the second tower right in front of our very eyes did any one start to cry. Every one hit there phones and called all the loved ones that they had just to get some since of connection and safety. The phone lines in New York were so jammed that NO one could get through and that only made things worse. We all sat with a very intense feeling of panic and mass fear as we continued to watch the people running through the streets as the buildings began to fall. It was a day of never ending fear that would affect the entire world from that day forward. We could only watch so much until we were all in tears. Our Principal called for an immediate mandatory school meeting in the auditorium. I went to a private school, so we Prayed and sang the National Anthem before any one would confront us with there thoughts. We were told that every parent from the school was called and we would all be leaving school early that day. I was in walking distance from school so me and my Twin met by our bikes and just hugged. We hugged so hard and cried together before we could even start our tri home. When we showed up, the entire family was there in shock. I remember saving several new papers the next day and doing nothing but watch the news. We went to church all week long and prayed for all the families that had lost a loved one. I didn’t go to school at all for another week. My family had decided that it was time for us to all just stay at home together and enjoy each others company. I will never for get this day for the rest of my life… I remember every single detail of the event that erupted a complete change in the entire world. My heart goes out every one who was affected by this day. I am looking forward to a day where we don’t have to worry about things like this and we can all move on. Until then I will for ever remember the feeling that over came the Nation that day. Where were you when it all went down?

Thank you for the very thoughtful piece of writing. Well Done!! I had a Dentist appointment in NJ that morning so I was not in my office on John St. 2 Blocks away from the WTC on 9/11. Was like Armageddon for Months down there after wards. The people in my building could not leave all day. When they looked out the window all you could see was thick Dust cloud even on the 50th floor. You are great!! xoxo David

That was awesome what you wrote about where you were on 9/11. In my case, I was home (I live in Nevada)and had woke up and saw it on the weather channel. I thought when the 1st tower was hit, I thought it was an accident. After the 2nd tower got hit, I said it fast, “fuck no, this was no accident, this was an attack”. I just sat in stunned shock and went to work later. My coworkers knew I have family and friends living in NJ and asked if I had contacted them, which I knew I couldnt get thru, so I had said not yet. I called them later that night at work, they were all ok but were in shock as well. Later that night, I saw a customer badger their loved one over something stupid. I asked the person who was being mean to refrain, the gcustomer, “well you dont know what she’s put me thru”. I replied, “well you don’t know what 3000 people just went thru today did you.” She replied, “you’re right, I’m sorry”. You know I enjoy talking to you and it shows on this blog and this entry how great you are.
